My research interest is in the general area of communication networks as they relate to wireless networks, next generation networks and high-speed networks. Each of the following topics has some part to play in my current research work
- Probabilistic and stochastic analysis and performance modeling
- Multi-layer interaction studies in mobile ad hoc networks and wireless sensor networks
- Integrated wireless networks
- Broadband wireless access networks
- Multi-path routing in high-speed networks
- Energy consumption issues in battery-powered devices
Tools for research
Off all the tools I use or ever had to learn, the followings make my life easier and I particularly like to use them.
For analytic mathematical models:
- Good old algebra
- General probability theory and stochastic processes
- General queueing theory and markov chains
- Markov and semi-markov decision processes
- Multi-criteria decision making
For simulation and numerical computation:
For writting and editting:
- LaTeX
- MikTeX is an open source soft that provide TeX environment on Windows
- Texmaker provide a nice GUI for editting TEX files

| Receiver-side
relay election in wireless ad hoc netowrks: In traditional multi-hop wireless communications, at each hop the
transmitting node chooses the next-hop relay among a set of neighbors. This
method however has high overhead in highly populated and dynamic wireless ad
hoc and sensor networks. An alternative approach, which we call receiver-siderelay-
election (RSRE), does not require that a transmitting node select the nexthop
relay node. Rather, an election is held among potential relay candidates, and
the best candidate is elected based on given criteria. more |
